Fogler Library

Wireless Internet Access

Fogler Library is Now Wireless

Students, Faculty and Staff, University System-wide can now use their laptop computers in the Fogler Library with a wireless connection. K-12 students with I-books may connect as well as students from Maine Maritime Academy and Unity College who have UNet accounts.

To connect in the Fogler Library you will need to buy a wireless card for your laptop. They are available at the Computer Connection but you can also find them at Best Buy or Circuit City. They run from $70.00 to $120.00 You also need an active UNet account. Every University of Maine at Orono student has a UNet account. However, your account needs to be activated. You can go to the IT Help Center at 17 Shibles Hall to get the code word you need to activate your account.

The UNet Help Center in Neville Hall can also supply the code word you need. Once you have your wireless card plus your UNet account in place, you may come to the Library and begin using the Internet from your laptop.

When you first open your computer, you will see a UNet registration page. Follow the instructions and fill in the information requested on the page. You will then need to re-start your computer. Once your computer has re-booted, you will be ready to connect to the Internet! Please have your card installed and working before coming to the Library. You can get support at the IT Help Center in Shibles Hall or wherever you bought your wireless card.
