collection development librarians, AcqWeb offers access to a number of verification tools
(library catalogs, databases), a searchable publisher's directory, a directory of library
and book-related organizations, and reference sources.
- Advanced Book Exchange.
Search for rare, out-of-print, antiquarian, and used books. Advanced Book Exchange
forwards messages to its member booksellers so that purchases can be arranged. Includes
links to the web pages of booksellers worldwide. Although there is some overlap, listings
are often different from those of Bibliofind (below).
- Alibris.
Offers one-stop searching and shopping from the inventories of booksellers
worldwide.
- All
That Jas: Journal Abbreviation Sources (Iowa State). A registry of Web resources that
list or provide full titles of journal from their abbreviations.
- Amazon.com Searchable by author, title,
subject and keyword. Browsing
by subject category of the most popular titles. Many books are reviewed, commented upon,
or have accompanying articles.
- American Bookseller's
Association BookWeb. A gateway to book-related sites, notably Bookevents (a listing of
book fairs, conferences, etc) and a directory of independent bookstores, searchable by
location and specialty.
- Bibliofind A
commercial site for identifying and purchasing used, rare, antiquarian, and out-of-print
books. The database includes prices and descriptions of approximately 3 million books
offered by 1000 booksellers worldwide. The database can be searched by
author,title,keyword,publisher,type of binding, and other criteria. Users may also use
Bibliofind to post a "want list" of up to ten books not currently in the
database.

Use this database to search for citations to and prices for books in and out of print.
Offers searching by author, title, keyword, publisher, or ISBN.
- BookWire A large
collection of links to sites of interest to readers. Features links to book reviewing
publications, publishers, libraries, booksellers, author web sites, and Publisher's Weekly
bestseller lists.
- Publishers'
Catalogues Home Page A comprehensive geographically-organized listing of publisher's
web pages.
- PubList.com.
Directory of more than 150,000 periodicals and 8000 newspapers worldwide.
- The
Pulitzer Prizes (Columbia Journalism Review). Lists Pulitzer recipients for the past
80 years. Provides an archive of works for the last three years, including photos, sound
clips, and full text of all prize-winning articles. Includes biographies, information
about jurors, and links to other Pulitzer resources.
