Medem. Health information from state and national medical societies. Includes information on life stages, diseases and conditions, therapies and health strategies, and health and society. Includes a Physician Finder.

Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI). This nonprofit advocacy organization focuses on safety and nutritional quality of food. Includes its Nutrition Action Healthletter online.

American Council on Science and Health. Provides mainstream scientific information on issues related to food, nutrition, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, lifestyle, the environment and health.

Government Agencies and Health Information Sources

Medlineplus Includes links to information sources, (dictionaries and encyclopedias), prescription and over the counter medicines

National Institutes of Health Includes a-Z index of NIH health resources with search options by topic and links to clinical trial and drug information.

Consumer Health Info A FirstGov health information site with links to a variety of government agency health related information.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Home Page. Search for health statistics and travel advisories.

Healthfinder. (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services) A meta-index that points to selected, useful health resources on the Web, arranged alphabetically by topic.

Open Directory Project The ODP's page for Health Information categorizes over 70,000 links with

Atlas of the Body (American Medical Association). Atlas of body systems plus details about specific body parts.

Universities and Medical Schools

Intelihealth. An online consumer health information source incorporating information from Harvard Medical School and University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine.

Mayo Clinic Health O@sis. Provides a library of resources in comprehensible language, medical news, and prescription and over-the-counter drug facts.

NetWellness Consumer health information site evaluated and maintained by the University of Cincinnati, Ohio State and Case Western Reserve University.
