Procedures for Binding Partial or Split Volumes

Purpose: To process incomplete serial volumes or split volumes due to a change in title, numbering, or format.

When splitting a volume, use one of the following criteria (in order of preference):

• Page numbers
• Months
• Issue numbers

Note: Cumulative numbers are a type of issue no., i.e. Vol. 70, 501-502

"Lacks 1-2" is permitted rather than "Lacks nos. 1-2" unless more than 1 vol. is bound together, in which case state "Lacks vol. 2, nos. 1-2."

• Supplements: "Supp" always on spine
• Cumulative Index: Always on spine
• Index: On spine only when vol. is in more than one unit.
