Biographical Information: 

The Chamberlain family of Brewer, Maine consisted of Joshua and Sarah Dupee Brastow Chamberlain and their five children, Joshua Lawrence, Horace, Sarah, John Calhoun, and Thomas Davee. Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain was a Union Army Officer who commanded the 20th Maine and was awarded the Medal of Honor. He was a graduate of Bowdoin college, an educator, and served as governor of the State of Maine from 1867 to 1871 and as President of Bowdoin College from 1871 to 1883.
