This is a selective guide to information resources in communication sciences and disorders. Due to the interdisciplinary nature of this field, sources listed here may be located in the Science & Engineering area on the second floor ("Sci Ref"), in the Reference area on the first floor ("Ref"), or in other parts of the Library, as noted.

Databases and Indexes

• CINAHL [Cumulative Index to Nursing & Allied Health Literature] (1981+)
  Covers nursing, allied health, and consumer health journals. Also covers dissertations, standards of practice, and other materials. Includes foreign-language publications. See the CINAHL Database Guide for instructions on searching the database.
• Cochrane Library
  A collection of evidence-based medicine databases. Assesses the effectiveness and appropriateness of health care interventions--including medications, surgery, and education--through systematic reviews of scientific literature. Updated quarterly.
• ERIC - Education (CSA) and ERIC - Education (EBSCO) [Educational Resources Information Center] (1966+)
  Covers all areas of education and educational psychology. Includes "documents" (books, reports, conference papers, etc.) and foreign-language publications. See the CSA ERIC Guide and EBSCO ERIC Guide for instructions on searching the database. Note: ERIC is currently in a state of flux due to changes mandated by the U.S. Congress. • Linguistics and Language Behavior Abstracts [LLBA] (1973+)
  Covers all areas of linguistics, language, speech, and communication. Includes books, conference proceedings, and foreign-language publications.
• MEDLINE (via EBSCOhost) and PubMed (1946+)
  Covers all areas of clinical and experimental medicine, with some coverage of other health fields. Includes foreign-language publications. See the MEDLINE Database Guide for instructions on searching the database.
• MLA International Bibliography (1926+)
  Covers all areas of linguistics and language. Includes books, conference proceedings, and foreign-language publications.
• PsycINFO (1887+)
  Covers psychology, psychiatry, and related areas. Includes dissertations, books, and foreign-language publications. See the PsycINFO Database Guide for instructions on searching the database.
