1. EVENTS
A. COHEN ENERGY FORUM
A few seats are still available for the Energy Forum! "The Promise of Energy
Independence -- Examining national policy and regional action," William S. Cohen
Papers Forum, Wednesday, October 5, 2005, 10 am to 3:30 pm, Buchanan Alumni
House, The University of Maine. To register contact Paige Lilly at 581-2665 or
e-mail paige.lilly@umit.maine.edu
Energy policy continues to confound us as it did in the 1970s when
Representative Bill Cohen began promoting energy conservation and alternative
fuels research in order to reduce dependence on foreign oil. Now, thirty years
later, what compromises are needed to fuel the future and gain energy security
for Maine and the nation? Our distinguished speakers will share their knowledge
and lead a discussion of issues such as reliable energy, biomass conversion, and
LNG terminal siting. Please plan to join us for the second in a series of
provocative discussions based on topics in the Cohen Papers. See the following
website for further information:
