A. WEI DAI, NEW CATALOGER/METADATA LIBRARIAN
Fogler Library has a new staff member, Wei Dai, in new position:
Cataloger/Metadata Librarian. In a rapidly changing world of library
services, the need for coupling traditional indexing and organizing skills
with training in applying those skills in a digital environment is
essential. The cataloger/metadata librarian can help bring Fogler Library's
growing collection of remotely available resources to the user in the most
seamless and efficient way possible.
Dai, who is originally from Beijing, China, graduated with his M.L.S from
University of Illinois at Urban-Champaign last December, where he worked as
a graduate assistant in the UIUC libraries for two years. He also worked at
the National Center for Super Computing Applications for two years, in
database/web design and development.
Wei's current projects include leading the Technical Subcommittee for
introducing Cross Search, a multiple search interface for licensed resources
for the UMaine System and ultimately for statewide access.
