1. SERVICES
A. LIBRARY INSTRUCTION SESSIONS
As you prepare for next semester's classes, remember that librarians in the
Reference and Science & Engineering departments at Fogler are available to
provide instructional sessions for your students. These sessions can cover
specific databases, or a variety of research materials, that will aid your
students in their class work. For Humanities and Social Science disciplines,
contact Nancy Lewis:
nancy.lewis@umit.maine.edu or 581-3713; for Science and Engineering
disciplines, contact Jim Bird:
jim.bird@umit.maine.edu or 581-1697.
B. LIBRARY's SPRING WORKSHOP SERIES
The schedule for the Library's Spring Workshop Series is available at:
www.library.umaine.edu/newmedia/
This semester's expanded Adobe Suite training includes a new workshop that
introduces the measurement and analysis tools in PhotoShop CS3 Extended. These
new features enable scientific researchers to capture, interpret, and
disseminate information more efficiently and effectively. For more information
about this and other workshops, contact Gretchen Gfeller:
gretchen.gfeller@umit.maine.edu
or 581-1696).
2. DATABASES
A. STAT-USA ADDS U.S. ENERGY STATISTICS
STAT-USA, the primary source for U.S. economic data, has recently added over
2,000 current and historical U.S. statistical data reports from the Department
of Energy. This new set of data provides state and national statistics for
various energy sectors, including coal, petroleum and renewables. This is a fee
based subscription service. But since Fogler is a Federal Depository Library,
we have a free one-seat license to access to it. Please contact Martin Wallace:
martin.wallace@umit.maine.edu |
581-1678 or Frank Wihbey:
frankw@umit.maine.edu | 581-1681 if you would like access information and/or
help locating any cited reports.
