SUBJECT ENCYCLOPEDIAS

Subject encyclopedias are often helpful, especially for those people just starting a research project.  Subject encyclopedias cover a wide range of topics and facilitate access to concise and well-researched information, usually written by subject experts.  Examples of subject encyclopedias include:

• Encyclopedia of Children, Adolescents, and the Media

• Encyclopedia of Knowledge Management
  (Reference HD30.2 .E53 2006, available online)

• Encyclopedia of world poverty
  (Reference HV12 .E54 2006)

Finding Subject Encyclopedias

• Ask a Librarian

• Browse the relevant Library of Congress Subject Classification area in the library reference area

• Search URSUS (e.g., encyclopedias and medicine)

• Use the print resource Subject Encyclopedias: User Guide, Review Citations, and Keyword Index (Reference AE1 .M57 1999)
