This photograph of Bill Cohen was taken on Hancock Street when he was approximately three years old. The photo was featured prominently in an article published in Yankee Magazine in December, 1990. The piece, written by Mel R. Allen, was titled "The Outsider," and chronicled Cohen's childhood memories from Hancock and Summer Streets. The article discussed the challenges of Cohen's background split between his father's Jewish heritage and his mother's Protestant background. Allen speculated on whether being accustomed to feeling like an outsider was a factor in Cohen's roles in the investigations of Watergate, the Iran-Contra Affair, and his consistent record of taking a strong stance against government bureaucracy. |
