AGRICOLA* 1970-present online
Sci Index S1.U52. 1942-1996 (1980-1996 in Annex)

If you are connecting to this database off the University of Maine campus but within the state of Maine, please connect through Maine's Science, Technology & Business Library. Index to materials acquired by the National Agricultural Library (NAL) and cooperating institutions. Includes journal articles, monographs, series, and materials in many non-print formats covering a broad range of agricultural topics. NAL provides Journals Indexed in Agricola. Bibliography of Agriculture (print form of Agricola) can be searched by subject, author, and geographic location. The Web version can be searched in a variety of ways including author, title and abstract keyword, and CAB descriptors. From 1979-1985 international in scope. From 1985+ focuses on U.S. related publications. Note that the National Agricultural Library provides its own Web version of Agricola from 1970 to present. There is an online thesaurus. Updated monthly.

Antarctic Bibliography

This bibliography includes information on meteorology, geology, oceanography, and biological and medical sciences. There is both a basic and advanced search. The bibliography is maintained by the American Geological Institute (AGI).

Arctic Science and Technology Information System (ASTIS)

A searchable database of over 51,000 records concerning northern Canada. Includes records of publications and research. Search by broad subjects or geographic regions or by author, or keyword from title or abstract. Contains almost 5,000 records related to climatology or meteorology. Maintained by the Arctic Institute of North America at the University of Calgary.

Bibliography on Cold Regions Science and Technology

This bibliography includes information on science and engineering as relates to cold regions facilities and activities. It also covers human impact on cold regions. There is both a basic and advanced search. The bibliography is maintained by the American Geological Institute (AGI).

A Comprehensive Bibliography On The El Niño Phenomena

A searchable database of El Nino information. Included are records of journal articles, technical reports, monographs, and proceedings from 1974 to 2/11/2001. Searching is by keyword from title, author, and source. Compiled and maintained by Vince Mariner, Library & Information Specialist. Center for Ocean-Atmospheric Prediction Studies Library.

Proquest Dissertations & Theses*

Indexes dissertations from 1861 to present from North American and European institutions. Limited coverage of masters thesis from 1982 to present. After 1987, abstracts are included.

DOE Information Bridge

A searchable database of U.S. Department of Energy full-text research and development reports. Search by author, title, subject, keyword, author affiliation, and a variety of other fields. Over 58,000 documents that have been received and processed by the Office of Scientific and Technical Information are included.

Energy Citation Database

Includes records of technical reports and papers resulting from research supported by the Department of Energy (and predecessors). Coverage is from 1948 to present.

Forestry Abstracts* - 1975-present
Sci Index SD 1 F66. 1939-2002.

Index to the world's literature on all aspects of forestry including silviculture, forest mensuration and management, fire, plant biology, genetics and breeding, mycology and pathology, insects and other invertebrates, land use, and forest protection and conservation. This database is updated monthly and indexes over 750 journals.

GeoRef*- 1785-present

If you are connecting to this database off the University of Maine campus but within the state of Maine, please connect through Maine's Science, Technology & Business Library. Established and maintained by the American Geological Institute, this database is the online equivalent of the print Bibliography and Index of Geology (ORO Sci QE1.G2145, 1969-present). Searching is by author, title, subject, and abstract keyword. This cd-rom database is updated quarterly.

GeoRef Preview Database

Also made available through the American Geological Institute, this database allows users to preview records before they are input into the GeoRef database. It is updated weekly with records in various forms of completeness. Completed records are added to the GeoRef database.

Horticultural Abstracts* - 1973-present
Sci Index SB 1 H65. 1931-2002.

Index to the literature of fruits, nuts, vegetables, and ornamental plants in over 1,000 journals as well as reports, conference proceedings, and books. Contains over 1,000 records of publications related to climate or weather. Search by author, title, abstract word, and CAB descriptors. Updated monthly.

Newspapers (Proquest)*

Full-text of over 500 news sources, U.S. and international. Coverage dates vary with source. Includes newswires.

Oceanic Abstracts* - 1981-present
Sci Index GC1.O251. 1964-2002

Oceanic Abstracts is published monthly. Material covered includes ecology, environmental protection, and marine pollution. Over 3,500 journals and other resources including conference proceedings and technical reports are indexed. Each issue contains author, subject, and geographic indexes which cumulated annually.

National Sea Grant Library Database

A searchable database of over 30,000 publications on Sea Grant funded research. Many of the documents are available full-text.

SPRILIB Antarctica

A searchable database of over 36,000 records of publications concerning the Antarctica and the Southern Ocean. Search by keyword, author, expedition or geographic location and limit by year of publication. Publication dates range from 1602 through 1999. Developed and maintained by Scott Polar Research Institute, University of Cambridge.

SPRILIB Ice and Snow

A searchable database of over 32,000 records of publications concerning the worldwide snow and ice literature. Search by keyword, broad general categories, author, or geographic location and limit by year of publication. Records contain brief abstracts. Publication dates range from 1661 through 1999. Developed and maintained by Scott Polar Research Institute, World Data Centre for Glaciology, University of Cambridge.

SPRILIB Russian North

A searchable database of over 19,000 records of publications concerning northern Russia and Siberia literature. Search by keyword, broad general categories, author, or geographic location and limit by year of publication. Records contain brief abstracts. Publication dates range from 1671 through 1999. Developed and maintained by Scott Polar Research Institute, University of Cambridge.

Statistical Universe*

Searchable index to over 100,000 United States government and privately published statistical sources including the National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service (NOAA/NESDIS). Searches can be limited by date and broad region and can be displayed in a variety of ways (frequency, state, city, etc). Statistical Universe also includes searchable, full-text access to the Statistical Abstract of the United States.

Water and Climate Bibliography

A searchable database of water and climate change literature developed and maintained by the Pacific Institute. Search by author, title, or keyword. Currently over 3,600 citations + abstracts.
