To find scholarly information on your Topic
URSUS - Fogler Library's catalog, use it to look for books. There are other libraries in this catalog, as well; look for O or ORO to tell if a book is here. If you want to order a book from another library, click on the Request button on the top of the page. You will be asked for your name and barcode (on the back of your MaineCard). You may also want to search in MaineCat, which includes other libraries across Maine (i.e. Bates, Bowdoin, and Colby). You can request these books as well.
Social Work Abstracts - covers most Social Work journals; only 4 users allowed at once
Social Services Abstracts - covers many Social Work journals, as well as journals in related fields
Other databases that may be helpful include:
Web of Science - allows citation searching of journal articles
Google Scholar - This web search engine does include many scholarly articles, but it is generally not as up to date, nor as comprehensive, as the above databases.
Request (click for a demo) allows you to order books from other Maine libraries
Article Linker (click for a demo) allows you to automatically check URSUS for electronic and/or print subscriptions.
Interlibrary Loan - use for journal articles we do not have access to
Ways to find other information
ProQuest Dissertations & Theses - Can search for citations to dissertations; some more recent ones have first 24 pages of full text
Proquest Newsstand - This includes full text articles for most U.S. newspapers (and a few English language ones from other countries).
LexisNexisAcademic - This full text database includes legal, business and news information.
Google - This familiar site searches what's available on the visible Web, with the most popular sites at the top of the list. Think twice before using any Wikipedia sites, as the content can be changed by anyone.
