Searching for Books
URSUS  is the catalog for Fogler Library as well as the University of Maine System Libraries, Bangor Public Library, and the Maine State Library. The catalog is searchable for book titles.
Searching Databases
Note: You can connect remotely to all of Fogler's databases by using your name and the number on the back of your UMaine card.
ERIC is a Department of Education sponsored database that began in 1966.Fogler Library has two versions of  ERIC. The EBSCO version is easier to search and has quicker access to full-text. This is a statewide contract that you can access either through Fogler or through  MARVEL!. Register for an account.  It's best if you go in through Fogler's site, since it connects to all of our  full-text subscriptions.

Education Full-Text is a high quality database produced by W. H. Wilson that began in 1983.  Journals are indexed "cover to cover" and the search can be limited to peer reviewed journals. This database can only be accessed through the Fogler site.

PsycINFO  contains references and abstracts to over 1,300 journals in more than 20 languages dating from 1887-present. The database includes empirical studies, case studies, surveys, bibliographies, literature reviews, discussion articles, conference reports and dissertations.

Google Scholar is a Google search engine for scholarly articles and books. Fogler partners with Google Scholar by allowing it to connect to our online journal subscriptions through FullText@MyLibrary.  However, you must connect to Google Scholar through Fogler.  Help  for Google Scholar
Library Tips
  • Interlibrary Loan - Get journal articles not owned by Fogler Library at http://library.umaine.edu/ill/
  • Connect Remotely to Online Databases and Journals -Use your last name and the 14 digit number on back of UMaine card
  • Printing- Use the $16 of free printing on your UMaine card each semester
  • Scanning- Make pdfs for free on scanners on the first floor of Fogler
  • Finding Print Articles-Look for current articles  in the Presidents room on the second floor and older print articles in the journals stacks
