Food and Drink Policy
Fogler Library is dedicated to providing a welcoming study and research environment. This policy was established to balance the needs of library patrons with protecting the building and its collections.
Spill-proof beverage containers are permitted in the Library except for Special Collections. Preferred containers include screw/pull-top bottles and spill-proof travel mugs. Travel mugs are a cost-effective and environmentally friendly alternative to paper and styrofoam cups. At the Oakes Room Café and Maine Marketplace you can save about 25 cents on coffee by using your travel mug.
Open beverage containers are only permitted in the Oakes Room Café and University Club. When in doubt, ask about the acceptability of a container. If necessary you may leave this type of container at entrance check-out desks.
Food is only permitted in the Oakes Room Café and University Club. If necessary you may leave food at entrance check-out desks.
